Decorative Concrete

Introduction

  • Decorative concrete are cast in place concrete flooring and paving that adds a distinctive touch to any project, together with the durability to stand to the toughest traffic loads and environment conditions. This system transforms ordinary concrete constructions into surfaces resembling stone, brick, slate and other natural materials.
  • We offer quality & functionality through a large selection of patterns and colours to match your own unique style and taste. The grace & elegance of fine brick & stone can be enjoyed for a fraction of its traditional cost. You can choose from many natural textures including slate, granite, limestone, sandstone, cobblestone and used brick.
  • Decorative Concrete Systems provides the strength & durability of concrete & the beauty and charm of old-world masonry craftsmanship.

Types of Decorative Concrete.

1. Stamped Concrete

Stamped Concrete is a concrete that is patterned and/or textured or embossed to resemble brick, slate, flagstone, stone, tile, wood and various other patterns and textures. Stamped concrete is commonly used for driveways, patios, sidewalks, ramps, pool decks, and interior flooring. The ability of stamped concrete to resemble other building materials makes stamped concrete a less expensive alternative to using those other authentic materials such as stone, slate or brick.

There are three procedures used in stamped concrete which separate it from other concrete procedures; the addition of a base color, the addition of an accent color, and stamping a pattern into the concrete. These three procedures provide stamped concrete with a color and shape similar to the natural building material. It also is longer lasting than paved stone, and still resembles the look.

  • IMPRINTING OVER GREEN CONCRETE
  • COLOURED TEXTURED IMPRINTED CONCRETE AVAILABLE IN DIFFERENT SHADES
  • UV RESISTANT COLOURS – RETAINS TRUE SHADES FOR LONGER DURATION
  • REPLACES CERTAIN NATURAL STONE MATERIAL

Why Stamped Concrete Instead of the Original Surfaces?

Brick, pavers, and cobbles look great, but since they form a surface of many interlocking pieces, they are susceptible to frost-heave and other changes in the underlying surface. Sometimes this can be good, if you're trying to cover an uneven surface--the brick, pavers, stone, or pavers will conform to the surface. But if you have a good, flat, and level undersurface, you'll want your concrete to be laid the same way. Reinforcing rods within the stamped concrete help to tie the pavement together and strengthen it.

Also, bricks, pavers, cobbles, etc. allow for weed to grow up through the cracks. Since stamped concrete is a solid, continuous surface, nothing can grow up through the "cracks." As you may already know, the "cracks" in stamped concrete are simply impressions in the concrete that only partially go through the surface.

Benefits of Stamped Concrete:

High Abrasion and Impact Resistance - Increased Comprehensive Strength

Reduced Maintenance Cost.

Colour Hardener doubles up the concrete surface abrasive value.

Fewer Joints. No growth of weed as no through cracks.

Weather / Stain Resistant when sealed.

UV Stable - Colors will not fade.

Available in various designs, textures, pattern & Colours.

Increased water resistance.

Minimum dusting.

Lower water permeability due to denser concrete

Equally Levelled Floor.

Minimized crack formation.

Top part of concrete has the max compressive strength due to lowest water cement ratio.

Rapid completion.

3. Stained Concrete

Stained Concrete are a unique line of water based, Non-Acid Polymer bonded stains that penetrate into the concrete surface to produce vibrant long lasting UV Resistant stains that enhance any Concrete surface.

Application: Stains are applied to any clean, cured concrete surface or concrete overlay surface. Once dried and sealed, the various colors that are applied become a permanent part of the concrete with lasting beauty.

Benefits:

UV stable: Once dry and sealed, the Everlast-Stains remain stable and resistant to weather and sun light for years.

A wide range of colors: The Everlast-Stains at various dilutions and combinations can offer a multitude of colors and shades for any desired effect in beautifying plain concrete surfaces. This includes a true black and white.

Ease of application: The Everlast-Stains do not require any neutralizing or labor intensive scrubbing. Once dry they can simply be sealed. Half of the labor is eliminated.

Economical: The stain cover up to 200 Ft2 /gal and one coat is usually sufficient.

Long shelf life: The Everlast-Stains can be stored in the original bottle for up to one year with no loss of intensity.

4. Wonder Sprays

Advantages:

  • Fast application with minimum hassle.
  • Can be applied on old concrete, granolithic or tile surfaces
  • Avoid the need to break off existing surface.
  • Superior skid resistance.
  • Colour will not fade
  • Exceptional Durability
  • Adds only 1-2 mm thickness to the surface.
  • No reliance on concrete supply

Installation Method:

Wonder Spray is installed as a thin layer of 2-3mm of co-polymer modified resurfacing compound by means of spraying. As in any good concrete resurfacing work, the existing surface is first washed and cleaned with high-pressure water jets to ensure good bonding. Any cracks, if any, must be repaired at this time to ensure it does not propagate to the new surface.

A base coat is then applied to give a base color to a patterned wonder spray design. If patterns are required, stencils of the desired pattern are laid on the surface before spraying with Wonder Spray material. If patterns are not required, the Wonder Spray material can be sprayed directly on the old surface without the stencils. After the material is dried, it is scraped and the residues are blown off using an air blower. The surface is then sealed using Sealer to protect the surface from daily wear and tear.

5. Wonder Roll. (For Old and New Concrete)

Wonder Roll is widely used to restore color on existing decorative concrete surfaces. Wonder Roll can be used on existing stamped concrete surface that has worn, or to unify new stamped areas that may have color inconsistencies. Wonder Roll can be used to color any decorative concrete surface without changing the appearance of pattern and/or texture.

Is Ideal for Colouring

  • Broom Textured finishes
  • Stamped Concrete
  • Commercial
  • Stamped Overlays
  • Spray Textured finishes
  • Industrial
  • May be Chemically Stained

6. Sand Wash System

  • This work will be carried out at the time of putting 3” thick levelling concrete.
  • Finishing the laid concrete using mechanical means like Floating and fine leveling by the Bull Float.
  • The leveled concrete shall then be coloured using CC make Colour hardeners to form the base colour or the single colour as decided. The Hardener shall be laid by Broadcasting at a time when the concrete has begun hydration.
  • The colour hardener shall then be compacted using Fresno Trowel. The method shall be repeated in a few minutes to ensure proper coloring of the surface. The surface shall be allowed to dry for 12 hours.
  • The next day the surface shall be itched with Acid and then pressure washed
  • Control joints will be provided at every 3mtr X 3mtr interval at depth of 1/3rd of newly casted slab. The surface shall be washed using the appropriate washing agent and then allowed to water cure for 7-8 days.
  • The cured concrete will be washed & then CC make sealer coat of Acrylic based coating shall then be applied and allowed to dry cure.
  • This completes the treatment & is allowed to cure & dry for min 48 hrs before use. The completed System will cure to receive foot traffic after 24 hours and full traffic after 72 hours.

7. Exposed Aggregate System

Methodology of Exposed Aggregate System:

  • This work will be carried out at the time of putting 3” thick leveling concrete.
  • Once the concrete has been placed, the decorative aggregate is ready to be revealed. There are several exposure methods can choose from, depending on the look desired and size of the project i.e.

– Mixing Colour Aggregates in the Concrete it self before pouring
– Seeding Method
– Exposing the Aggregate available in the concrete as per pre design mix

  • Using a surface retarder by spraying a chemical surface retarder onto the slab surface immediately after placing and finishing. This delays the set and gives them the flexibility to remove the cement paste up to a day or so later, either by scrubbing or pressure washing. Only the top of the stone is exposed while the rest remains permanently embedded in the concrete. The general rule of thumb is to remove the surface mortar to a depth no more than one-third the diameter of the aggregate particle.
  • Providing Control Joints @ 3 mtr X 3 mtr in all the directions
  • Curing the surface for Seven Days.
  • Finally washing and Sealing the Surface. Job Complete
